Grainfield City Park

 In recent years, the city park has been revitalized, transforming into a vibrant and welcoming destination for both the community and visitors. New playground equipment, generously donated in memory of Lisa Manhart Althouse, LeRoy Hartman, and Delmar Heinrich, brings a fresh, modern space for families to enjoy. A park bench, dedicated in memory of Bryce Heinz—a beloved school coach for many years—overlooks the city park basketball courts, providing a thoughtful place for reflection.

The GCDC, the City of Grainfield, and volunteers have led many of these improvements, including painting the pavilions, adding new basketball goals, building a pickleball court, re-rocking the playground, refreshing the existing equipment, and constructing an enclosed sand volleyball court, a favorite spot for gatherings and games. A new concession stand and updated bathrooms were also added, adding convenience for park visitors during events.

The park now offers something for everyone, with basketball courts, horseshoe pits, covered picnic tables, benches, restrooms, a modern and traditional playground. There's plenty of open space for kids and families to run around and enjoy the outdoors.

Additionally, the Grainfield Library has added a StoryWalk on the park’s east side, creating an engaging path where visitors can enjoy a children’s storybook one page at a time as they stroll. These enhancements have made the city park a true gathering place for recreation, relaxation, and community connection.
